Is removing an amalgam-filled tooth dangerous?!
Question: Is removing an amalgam-filled tooth dangerous?
Of course,at that time it did not make much sense to me - how in the world would I have come in contact with mercury? I did eat a lot of fish at that time, but not so much as to cause poisoning even if mercury was in them. So I just shrugged and moved on hoping it would never happen again.
Recently I found out about AMALGAM, a silver filling used by dentists and that it contains toxic amounts of mercury. Then I made the connection. It dawned on me. A FEW WEEKS PRIOR TO MY SEVERE GUM "INFECTION" I had an Amalgam filling done on one of my wisdom teeth because the doctor thought it would be better than removing the tooth since I am young.
I am definitely shitscared right now since I want this metal out of my system ASAP but I also heard drilling is the worst way to go with amalgam. I know that many dentists think it is safe but I still don't want anything that contains even minute amounts of mercury in my mouth!
My question is - since it is a wisdom tooth - is it safe for a dentist to just pull it out together with the amalgam? Please help!

Hi! I've been in dentistry for over 25 years. Have the tooth removed. I don't think the filling is the issue, I think what is happening is the tooth nerve is reacting to the metal(conduits electricity from the body) and is causing the pain. Have the tooth removed and you will be fine. Mercury poisoning is painless. Heavy metal toxicity is in the liver/etc and is painless until the organs are damaged. One filling is not nearly enough to cause this.
don,t let the media panic you about mercury. it,s the long term ingestion of minute amounts that pose a threat. it stays in the body ,and causes problems. the stuff in your fillings is going nowhere. i,ve had them for forty years. no issues. you can even handle liquid mercury without any problems.
