Question: My temporary crown fell out and I notice they shaved my tooth down to the gum, is that normal?
I mean I do remember when the dentist was doing it there was a lot of smoke coming out and the dentist got defensive when I asked about the smoke, she was like THERE WAS NO SMOKE and changed the subject

Hello, When preparing a tooth for a crown the tooth is always prepared (cut down) on the sides to just below the gum edge..This it to provide a more acceptable appearance of the line that would be visible where the tooth and the crown connect..It also provides less ability for plaque that could lead to decay from getting under the crown. Good luck and I wish you well.
