braces hurt but spacers were worse for me

The worst it's gonna get would be super sensitive teeth for a day or two (as in you can't really eat solid foods), and this is not for everything you tighten your braces -only sometimes. For me, this happened only about 4-5 times within the duration of 2.5 years I had my braces.

For spacers- you'll feel pressure (so when u bit it might ache), but that goes away within 1-2 days of having the spacers put it in.
Braces - again, you'll feel pressure when its tightened, that that also goes away in 1-2 days.

So to answer your question, no. it's tolerable.

They are highly uncomfortable when you first get them and every time they tighten them. The pain happens when you eat a sloppy Joe and a wire breaks into your gum and then they remove the wire and cut your gum. That hurts. But the actual placing them and tightening isn't too bad.

Had braces from 6th grade to 8th grade
I'm 23 now maybe dentists are less brutal

but when you get braces it will feel uncomfortable. but you will deal with it trust me
