Will getting a crown on my tooth hurt?!

Question: Will getting a crown on my tooth hurt?
I had a root canal done a couple of weeks ago on my molar and tomorrow I'm getting my crown. My dentist told me my tooth will be short and it appears to be filed down already so will they have to inject me with a numbing shot? Will it hurt at all?

no you've already been through the worst. there will be no pain while they put the crown in, but it's gonna feel kind of like the root canal after it's done. there wil be pain in your new crown after the numbing agents wear down, which will probably give you a head ache. take some alieve or tylenal or something like that. the next day there should be little to no pain, but its normal if its still a little tender.

i've had 4 of them.

Hello there,
Well for a dentist to put a crown on your tooth, he or she may still have to make adjustments on that tooth to ensure that the crown will fit properly. Yes you will have to be numb for this. They will take molds of the tooth. So they can send it off. Your gums are going to tender and sore. Another reason you your will be numb is because your gums are healing. Without the actual crown, your gums won't heal properly. Once the final crown is placed then your gums can actually heal a lot better.
Hope that helps.

You shouldnt need a shot just to place a crown. The tooth already has a root canal which means it will have no feeling.
Placing the crown is super easy. Just make sure your bite feels comfortable to you once its in. If it feels high, like it hits first, tell the dentist so they can adjust it so its comfortable for you.

Good luck!

You may have discomfort on the gum but a local injection will take care of that you will not feel anything. As well you have had the nerve out, the tooth can not feel anything anymore.
