How long does root canal filling take?!
Question: How long does root canal filling take?
But can he drill down to the canal, clean it and then fill it in 40 mins? Or will he refer me to another appointment cos i want it sorted there and then and not have any appointments

Mine took like 40-45 minutes. I think it depends on how deep your root is. Or how big the infection is. My infection was pretty small so it didnt take that long. They should do everything in 1 procedure, you'll be asked back for a 2nd appointment to get the filling or the crown to permenantly seal it up. They'll give you a temporary filling in the meantime.
Personal experience
Depending on your clinical need a dentist will book you an appointment of between 45 minutes and a hour and a half. Pre clinical time is minimal and the time is fully occupied.
On completion of the treatment they sometimes finish it with a temporary filling at the top and leave it for a week or so to be sure it has all settled down properly. This is standard practise because if the infection does not settle down or there is a problem they then can get access easily to sort it out otherwise it is hard to do so. The second appoint will be about 20 minutes.
My root canal literally took hours (probably 2 or 3). I guess it depends on the doctor, but I imagine you'll have to reschedule for a day when he has more free time than 40 minutes.
i had one yesterday and it took him 40mins but thats a short amount of time hes an amazin dentist but cost me £573!!!
