Wisdom teeth removal experiences?!

Question: Wisdom teeth removal experiences?
Did it hurt? How soon were you able to go out afterwards?

Answers:

I just got all four of mine removed yesterday, and honestly it isn't that bad. Although it's different for everyone the hardest thing for me was just getting myself to walk in those doors and sit in that chair.

In the chair they'll take your blood pressure mine was apparently ridiculously high, as I was super nervous. Then they'll stick you with an IV needle that'll put you to sleep, and put an oxygen mask in your nose. The most uncomfortable thing of the whole surgery is those few moments waiting for the antithesis to kick in. I personally felt sick and dizzy like how you feel right before you throw up.

Then just like that my mom was by my side and the surgery was over. It felt like it took no more than a second, honestly. Though my Mom told me it took the doctor just a tad over a half an hour. When I woke up no one would understand me because of the gauss in my mouth, and I was really dizzy. They ended up taking me out to the car in a wheel chair, and once outside I felt millions of times better from the fresh air.

Once home I slowly nibbled on crackers, soup, and apple juice. It's very important to keep your mouth moving and to take your medicine on a full stomach. The swelling isn't all that bad, however my cheeks are still a tad rounded even now 25 hours after the surgery. My face doesn't show any signs of bruising, but I have known others who did. I personally do not want to go out in public just yet, haha.

So to answer your question: did it hurt? No not really, the bleeding was a little concerning least for me I get queasy from that. I can definitely feel the stitches, but they are hardly more than an annoyance. And it is uncomfortable to smile.
How soon until you can go out really depends. I know friends who were out and about the next day. Others refused to let others see them for a week. I'm thinking at least another day for me.

Good luck! And don't worry you're the patient you don't have to do anything. You're just going to the doc and take a nap. Thats what I kept repeating to myself anyway, and personally I think thinking that helped.

Personal experience.

When I had my wisdom teeth removed I had it done by an Oral Surgeon who put me under anesthesia for the duration of the process. The original idea was to just give me numbing injections but I decided I would rather sleep through the ordeal. I had all four removed at once and was very very sore afterword. My mouth bled for the first few hours and after that it really did feel like I had been hit in the mouth but it's honestly not that bad, nothing compared to the pain of having them in my mouth pushing against my other teeth. You should be able to go out just fine but eating will be difficult and you will probably be sore for one to two weeks and most times there is swelling and/or bruising around your mouth so don't have it done before something important where you want to have your picture taken. The first dentist I talked to wanted to remove mine the weekend before my senior prom and if I had let him it would have been a nightmare.

Yes it hurts! (Also, it is accompanied with rather massive headaches)
When I got mine out, it took a full 2 weeks for ALL of the pain to be gone, but I think it depends on the person. Some people get better than others faster, others take more time to heal. Regardless, I was able to go out after about 3 days. I wouldn't worry about it too much, but I do remember that my mom make me gargle with warm salt water to prevent any infections after every meal (That really helped it heal faster)

If you go to an oral surgeon, they will give you anesthesia to put you out while they pull it. You will have some soreness but only a dull ache (which some Tylenol would take care of) and you will need to swish your mouth with some anti bacterial solution until it heals up. If you don't have any pain, you can go out the next day after having it done.
