How functional is the tooth and how much decay is present? Do you use the tooth to chew with? Is it a wisdom tooth? Keep in mind a couple things here...is the tooth functional? If you extract a tooth on the bottom, will the one on top super erupt because it has nothing to oppose it? Are there other teeth behind it that may begin to drift because of the space? If you chose to extract it, are you aware of the cost of replacement with a bridge or an implant in the future?
If it were me, I'd definitely just do the filling. I want to keep all my teeth, they're invaluable.

Common sense and 10 years dental experience.
