does the non-custodial parent is responsible to pay the child dental braces?!

Question: Does the non-custodial parent is responsible to pay the child dental braces?
i have health insurance but not dental. The X was asking me to pay part of the child's dental braces....it will lead me more into debt to accept this extra responsibility....does the dental braces necessary rather than putting the parent into debt and categorizing an irresponsible parent? Pls advise, from Texas.

Answers:

No, you should not have to pay for anything other then what you were told to pay by a court when custody was decided ect.
If you do not have a court agreement you still would not have to pay for it.

Medical Discount Plan
ideal for those who cannot afford or qualify for traditional health insurance. The companies offer discounted health services for a quite low monthly fee. Benefits include a range of discounts for doctors, hospitals, dental, vision, prescriptions, vitamins, as well as other health services.

Individual & Family Health Plans
This is a major health insurance plan for individuals and families. If you are looking for comprehensive long term health insurance coverage for yourself and/or your family members who are 62 years old or younger - this is the plan to choose.

Short Term Medical Plans
This plan is ideal for individuals in transition. Maybe you have just graduated from college and are no longer covered under your student health insurance or you moved out on your own, and you're no longer covered under your parents' medical insurance plan. Or perhaps you're employed part-time, going to school, leaving home for the first time, or even retiring early. Maybe you've found a new job, but your new employer's group health insurance plan won't kick in until you've been with months.

Common situation you met like many other people,be patient, and check the resource here www.HealthInsuranceFree.info/dental.html i found very useful for me to solve my similiar problem.

If you want the legality aspect, try posting in Law and Ethics.

If you want opinions (?), mine is that it is totally reasonable for your ex to be asking you to help shoulder the expense of braces for your child. If you have money issues, there are other places to save-- a child's medical/dental expenses should not be one of them. Downsize your home or car, stop buying gadgets, no fast food or lattes, get rid of cablevision (whatever sucks up the money, these are just examples).
