Answers:

What you're describing sounds like root or bone fragments. Sometimes while extracting a tooth the bone surrounding the tooth will chip off a little or even the tooth that was extracted can fracture a little leaving small fragments behind. As the extractions site heals, these small fragments can work their way through the gums and feel sharp to your tongue. Sometimes they'll work themselves out, but are often sharp and painful. The dentist typically can remove these easily without anesthetic, although depending on the size, may need a little anesthetic.
