Will my root canal hurt?!

Question: Will my root canal hurt?
I'm a very nervous person and very nerve acting! I hate needles and it hurts me so bad when the dentist numbs me with novicane.

Answers:

I can relate I was sooooooo nervous when I was 1st going to get a root canal done. But believe me...it isnt that bad. Some people build it up all negatively like its such a horrible experience and it isnt. I'm not gonna tell you its fun lol but its not painful and it isnt horrible. When you 1st go in the nurse will rub some numbing gel on your gum in the area their gonna do the root canal. They'll leave it there for a few minutes. And then the dentist comes in. I was lucky cause i had a really considerate kind helpful kind of dentist. He asked me how i was feeling & i told him how scared i was lol And he asked me which part i was scared about...& after he explained everything i felt so much better. So yeah after the numb gel has been on your gums for a few minutes, the dentist puts the novacaine in. I didnt even feel it! lol The most i felt was a tiny slight poke, but that was it..nothing like how bad i thought it was going to be.

After that the dentist keeps checking, jiggling your jaw a bit asking do you feel this? etc.. Tell them if you feel anything, if you do they'll just numb you up some more so it'll be painless. Then after your completely numbed up they start the root canal. It goes by pretty quick, all I felt was some water..the little vaccuum thing they put in your mouth to suck stuff up lol & i felt some vibrations, like pressure..but nothing else. You will not fill the drilling or anything. Once they kill the root, they'll take some xrays, put the temporary filling in there till you get the permanent & then its over. No more pain. And they give you meds if you have any pain afterwards. I had no pain afterwards so i never used the pills. All in all its not as bad as you think its gonnabe. And its nothing compared to the pain your in now which is why you need a root canal done to begin with.

Personal experience

it will hurt alittle i mean take deep breaths ask for nitrous oxide to relax you if you feel it raise your hand to have him numb you more good luck and relax i wish you the best luck

There will be a little discomfort. Ask the endodonist if they can give you nitrous oxide. It will help you relax.

antibiotics are required first because of poison in the system! ask your dentist is virtualy pain less if done correct.

It will but the discomfort you feel its far less than how painful it would be if you left it alone.
