How can I get my x-rays from my soon-to-be-ex dentist?!

Question: How can I get my x-rays from my soon-to-be-ex dentist?
My dentist (only been to him once) has rain checked my filling every week for a month now, and I'm sick of waiting on it. I actually went to have it done yesterday just to figure out that not only had the receptionist put me down for the wrong time, but they had also double booked the time anyway! I need to pay cash anyway, so I don't get why I should wait.
How can I get my x-rays out of his office to take to my next dentist? They were just done three weeks ago, and I don't want to have any more x-rays done.

Just call the office to have them emailed to you (if they're digital x-rays) or sent directly to your new dentist. If the old office refuses, then remind them that they are required to do so by law regardless if you owe a balance or not. Many offices prefer not to give copies to patients but will mail them to another office so they do not get lost or misplaced. Expect to be charged a fee for duplication if they are conventional x-rays (non-digital).
