Sore throat and red spot on side of mouth?!

Last night all of a sudden a sore throat appeared out of no where.. I thought it was strange because I havent been out in awhile and none of my family had a cold.. so i just went to bed woke up in the morning i still had it.. then i felt like i had something in my mouth.. for awhile i was having trouble figuring where it is.. then i found it.. it was on the side of my mouth on my gums.. its a tiny red spot same color as my gums its not painful or anything.. just an annoyance because it feels like food in my mouth which i cant even swallow.. and for my sore throat everytime i constantly swalling down mucus
