anyone who knows alot about what happens at a dentist..?!

Question: Anyone who knows alot about what happens at a dentist..?
Okay so heres the story
I got in a car accident a few days ago and my mouth hit the shift of the car and knocked one of my teeth almost out. The doctor in the E.R said that i would probably have to get a bridge on 2 of my teeth. Well im TERRIFIED of the dentist and I have no clue what a bridge is. I know theres a kind where it does across the roof of your mouth. So does anyone know what a bridge like that is? Or if it will hurt and if so how bad?

It's when you wake up with your pants undone in the dentist chair.
Sometimes your a** will hurt.

C'mon im young and im not scared of the dentist

I'm sorry you had an accident, I hope you're good other than the tooth. A bridge is nothing to be scared of. If done well, you will not feel the difference. A bridge is really a series of multiple crowns attached together. When one tooth is missing, but you have a tooth to the right of it and a tooth to the left it. Those two teeth are crowned and serve as anchors and support for the tooth that's in the middle. You will not feel any different, you're thinking of a partial which is removable. A bridge is permanent and is a good solution if the two teeth next to the missing one need crowns. If your two teeth next to the one missing are healthy, it's sad to grind them down and put crowns on them, you should also know that you have an option of an implant, the knocked out tooth is removed an implant is placed and a crown on top of that. You will only be dealing with that one. Seeing a dentist is a good idea, if you're not comfortable during the consultation simply DON'T GO BACK, it's always nicer to find a smaller more personalized office with one dentist, not like the large places with multiple dentists and you seeing a different one everytime. It's important to find one that you like and trust, so you don't want a different one everytime. Always be honest from the first visit, let them know, I'm scared, what should I expect?. Any good dentist, will respect your feelings, make you aware of everything and make you feel comfortable.

I'll give you some links to help you familiarize yourself more of what to expect. As far as bridge or implant, that will be your decision and the dentists decision on what's best financially and for your overall oral health. Good luck!
