First Time For Braces!!!! :P?!

A spacer is an elastic band they put between your teeth to make space, if they haven't already told you that. Your teeth will probably ache a bit after wards (some peoples don't, it really depends on how much space needs to be made), so take pain killers and eat soft food. I don't know how long you'll have them for but it shouldn't be more than a month, probably a week or two.
After that that they'll put the brace on, which is painless by the way if you're worrying or anything. The only thing that will hurt is after the orthodontist tightens your brace and it will probably ache a bit.

Well, first, they put spacers in. They're little plastic rings that go around your back teeth. That's all they do at first. You wear them for a week (your teeth might be a little sore, but they shouldn't be very bothersome), then you go back and they actually put the braces on. First, they glue the brackets on your teeth, and then they put the wires in. Since the glue has to dry, the whole process takes about two hours-it sounds scary, but it's really not that bad. Next you choose the colors for the bands, the orthodontist will put them in, and then you're done! :)
You might be sore for the first few days, but after that you'll barely even notice them.

I had braces for 2 and a half years...I got them off a few months ago. :)

when i got braces, they put in spacers for a week and they hurt so much i couldn't eat. then they give you braces... which hurt so much you can't eat. (but only for a few days) everyone i know who'se had braces had spacers for a while (i think it's needed) anywho when they actually put on the braces it doesn't hurt, but it's kind of uncomfortable. like going to the dentist, and for a while you'll have to eat soft things and get used to all the cuts in your mouth. but after awhile you won't eve notice them (:

When i got braces, they xrayed my mouth and made a mould of my teeth and showed what they were going to do and how with it. Then they fixed the braces which can be unpleasent if you have sensitive teeth. Every month i go back and they replace the wires and tighten them up. It wont be exactly the same for you as your teeth are different. But take some painkillers when you go.

They only put in spacers if you are getting weighted bands around your back molars. These are like metal bands which weight the braces in place. Not everyone gets these, it depends on your orthodontic needs.
