Crown lengthening procedure: do I have to be put to sleep?!

Question: Crown lengthening procedure: do I have to be put to sleep?
I dentist told me today I will need to have this done. I have not yet scheduled the appointment. He told me I have to see an oral surgeon. Will I be put to sleep? Is it necessary to put me to sleep for this?

Answers:

No, all you need is local numbing like Novocaine. You could ask for nitrous oxide and even get something like valium to relax you.

No .Just numb it up won't feel a thing.
