A salt water rinse will help, do not swallow it. And brush more gently in future, receding gums can lead to tooth loss.
Take a couple of standard painkillers.
Whilst you are waiting for the pain killers to take effect place a hot water bottle or an ice pack wrapped in a cloth against your cheek, to deflect the pain. You can stroke you cheek gently, but you won't be able to keep it up for very long.

sounds like a touch of gum disease go get your teeth cleaned by a dentist and buy some listerine mouthwash
