Dead tooth?? need a few opinions here?!

Question: Dead tooth?? need a few opinions here?
I was playing football a while back (about 2 months or so) and i went in for a tackle and got elbowed in the mouth. One of my front teeth and the one next to it went numb for a while but they hurt if i tried to put anykind of pressure on it. I went to the dentist and he said he didnt see anything wrong and i waited like a week and everything felt normal except whenever i ate cold foods or opened my mouth for too long in the cold my front tooth would hurt. I went back a few days ago and he did a temperature test and said if i cant feel it on my tooth it's most likley dead. He did it and i couldnt feel any kind of temperature. There is a very small chip on the back of it and that is usually where i feel the pain from hot or cold but nowhere elese on the tooth. Is it normal to still feel pain like that on a dead tooth? I'm hoping maybe it means it's not dead but im pretty sure it is.

I had a dying tooth and could not feel any of the cold treatment they put on it, but it still hurt uncontrollably. This is because the pulp of your tooth is dying. Eventually when it dies, you will stop feeling any kind of pain, but the process of it dying is pretty excruciating. I would go see a dentist and talk about getting crowns (or in your case, because it's your front teeth, you'll probably want porcelain veneers). Sorry to hear about your troubles! Good luck :)
