Is it possible to get my braces off early if...?!

Question: Is it possible to get my braces off early if...?
I have my mom sign a waiver form or something? Ive had them for 3 years now. My last appointment was about a week ago. My orthodontist said they're perfectly straight, the only problem was my jaw alignment, i have a tiny overbite, but shes a perfectionist, so.. She told me to wear my elastics 24/7, and i refuse to wear them 24 hours a day because it's way too painful. Aren't they obligated to take them off if you sign something? Like, for a cancer patient, if they choose to stop getting chemo treatments, they cant be forced to keep getting them if they dont want to. So why should this be any different.. Its been long enough, and i'm extremely self conscious because of them.

I had braces for 5 years, they are annoying :(
I think your orthodontist is worried that if she takes them off, later you might wish you stuck it out for a little longer, especially if they start going back because of it.
The elastics shouldn't be hurting. You might want to speak to her about it - after about a week (wearing them 24/7) they should be fine.
The thing is, if you don't wear the elastics, you'll just have to have your braces on for longer.

But, yes - if you want them off, they can't force you into it. I know my friend asked to have them off a month early, and they took them off.
Speak to your orthodontist. Explain that it's destroying your confidence. Tell her you're willing to sign a waiver and live with the consequences. She'll probably tell you what could happen if she takes them off, and she probably won't like it (working for so long on somebody's teeth and then not being able to finish would be frustrating) but, at the end of the day, it's your teeth.
(but I would try and still get a night retainer, to keep your teeth straight.)

I think the main question you need to ask is; how long is left? If it's a long time and you are deeply unhappy, do what you think is right. It's your mouth.

the orthodontist is obligated to tell you the possible consequences of taking them off early. But if you want them off early there is no law saying they can not take them off early. Some people may want you / guardian to sign a waiver saying that you won't come back and sue because you didn't get or maintain the results expected.

You don't say how much longer they expect you to wear them. If it is going to be just a few more months I would just deal with it because you've gone this far....

Talk to your mom ask a bunch of questions of your ortho at the next visit about the consequences and why etc...I find that most doctors dealing with teeth are perfectionists times 100 and sometimes you just need to speak up and let them know it is your mouth and you will live with the consequences.
