Questions about BRACES D:!?!

i just got my braces on a couple months ago, and its not so bad.

1. putting on the braces doesnt hurt! it will be a little unconfortable, but not bad, just take tylonol, advill, benadrill (whatever medicine you take for pain) before you leave to get them on.

2. it takes about 30min-1 hour, depends on how fast ur othodontist is without causing discomfort.

3. you dont need to bring anything with you. just yourself and ur parent/gardian

4. they dont "hurt" after being put on, but they can cause discomfort. I have a very "low threshhold for pain" (which means pain or discomfort lasts much longer for me than a normal person) and it only bothered my for 3 days, so hopefully not any longer for you!

5. like i said, its really only discomfort, not much pain, but if any pain, its not alot, only if you try to eat solid foods while it still isnt comfortable, than it might hurt, and if it does hurt, suck on an ice cube, ice cream, milkshake, and you should be fine!

6.purple and black looks good! i got purple and dark blue the first time and they looked good! and the dark blue looked so close to black, so i like it!!

okay, and i am going to give you some... advice? if you like milkshakes, or ice cream, tell your parent/gardian that it hurts sooooo much and the only thing to make it feel better is a large ice cream/milkshake. hahaha. good luck getting the braces!!

Its doesn't hurt while they are getting put on but it hurts afterwards sometimes for several days but it often depends on the person.
As far as i can remember it took about 10 - 15mins
Bring you're toothbrush and give you're teeth a clean before hand out of courtesy for the orthadonist.
I'm not going to lie to you but my teeth hurt a lot afterwards, ibprufen will help.
Personally i wouldn't go for dark colours, they stand out to much, my friend went for the purple and hated it. I would start out with something pale and simple at first.

- Actually putting the braces on does not hurt at all its fine :)
- I Cant remember how long it takes to but them on, but not too long.
- No you dont need to bring anything with you but i brought some vaseline because after he finished putting my braces on and took the big plastic thing out my mouth my lips were soo dry haha.
- After they are put on your teeth will just ache for a few days, but take some ibuprofen and you will be fine:)
- Didnt hurt that much, just take ibuprofen/paracetamol and you will be fine :)
- Get any colour you like, i have a light pink on but i dont like it so im changing the colours next time i go haha :D

? Does the actual putting on the braces hurt? No it doesnt.. but you have to have injections first to take out some teeth.. This PAINS.

? Do they hurt after being put on? And if so, how long will they hurt me for? They just feel wierd for about 2-3 days .. they do feel a bit heavy on your teeth at first.

? I was thinking of getting them in purple (purple and black are my favourite colours). What do you think? :D Hmm.. sometimes you can't choose...I'd recommend getting the non-coloured ones. The coloured ones can get dirty easily and the colours can wear away. Sounds silly but its true. I have silver braces xD

Hi . I have got my braces and wondered this to . Now i have the answers .

1. There are 3 parts to getting your braces put on . None hurt but if i had to pick id say the firtst part hurts a little when they put these disc thingys in your mouth .

2. It normally takes around an hour .

3. No i never did .

4. They dont really hurt after but you have to get used to them for a few minutes . Sometimes the pain can be a little hurtful because they sometimes rub your gums . Luckily your dentist or orthodonist should give you wax .

5. The rubbing of the gums can be a little painful . Sometimes a lot .

6. Yes . Be in mind you will get them changed every 6 weeks and that does not hurt . They just take the colors out and change them .

Hello i got braces last August i shall answer questions in descending order.
It doesn't hurt that much but is a bit uncomfortable as this thing is put in your mouth to hold it open.
About 30 minutes
My orthodontist played music while he was doing it and said if i had a cd i wanted him to play then bring that.
They hurt a bit for about a week. When i got it done it hurt alot to eat so i recommend soup for that time.
Purple looks cool i had it once. :)

1. No when they put the brace on it doesnt hurt, its just after a couple of hours your gums tend to be a little sore.
2. It depends on what brace you have.
3. No i dont think so, unless your dentist asked you to.

It actually depends on your body and how much you're athletic.. The more athletic you are the less it will hurt.. That's what my dentist said..
They will hurt a little bit when you're putting them.. it will take 30-45 mins.. and they will hurt for a couple of days when eating (after every appointment).. But think of it this way.. Your smile will look perfect after you remove them!

No, it doesn't hurt when their putting them on. It takes about 30-45 max. U dont have to bring anything besides ur teeth. After 3 or 4 hours later ur teeth will start to ache and it feels as if ur teeth are falling out (they arent) and they hurt for about a week. Its just an ache but try to avoid solid food and it'll be over before u know it. U should get purple but not black, it will make ur teeth look dirty. Try to avoid: yellow, gray, black, white, and any colors that would look dirty or would lool like food. My first day i got blue & green, then pink & green, then red & pink, etc. U could just do only purple, colors dont have to be alternative. Here's a color selector:

? Does the actual putting on the braces hurt? No, This does not hurt at all... and the previous comment about having teeth out is not for all people. I didn't have to have any teeth out, Its only if your teeth are crowded or if you have a broken tooth that could eventually get worse that this happens.

? How long will it take to put them on? For both arches is normally about 20-30 minutes for the first time when they are fitted as the brackets have to be glued into place. After that when only the bands and wire are changed it takes about 10 minutes.

Do I bring anything with me when they're being put on? you dont need anything but I suggest you buy the wax they offer as you may find the brace rubs on your gums and causes some discomfort and also sometimes the wire can start sticking out slightly as your teeth are pulled together so the wax is useful for those few days before the next appointment to change it

I wont lie to you, after I had mine put on it didn't hurt for a few hours, I found myself clamping my mouth shut just to experience the weird numbing sensation it causes. Eating is a bit sore for a few days, You wont be eating and apples that's for sure and even sandwiches cased a little pain but don't be put off. This only lasts 2-3 days maximum but will happen everytime you have the wire and bands changed.

? How much do they hurt if they do hurt!? As I said.. Its more of a numbing sensation at first and they may feel heavy in your mouth, after a while you'll forget you even have them.

Colours are great, When I went on holiday I had lime green and pink bands interlocked and it looked quite funky. Normally your orthodontist will just put on silver band unless you ASK!!! .. I had silver bands for 4 months because I didn't think he would put any other colours on but I got the courage and asked and he was happy to put whatever colour I wanted on. He even used to say 'What colour today?' and laugh when I walked in because he knew i'd ask. But stay away from Black or Yellow... Black makes it look like you're missing teeth or they are rotted and yellow... You know what that will look like.
