I've had braces for about a year now and i'm getting them off soon =)

1. Spacers don't hurt when they put them on, but after about a day they feel a little sore, but not that much.
2. The thing that holds open your mouth doesn't feel uncomfortable at all.
3. The gagging really depends on you.
4. I personally didn't use medicine, but i think that tylenol works good.
5. After getting your braces, your teeth will feel a little sore after about a day so I suggest eating soft foods that don't require much chewing or smoothies.
6. I really like mine because my teeth were pretty bad before, but now they are very straight.
7. Pros- Your teeth will become very straight and will look really good when you get them off.

Cons- You can't eat some foods like gum. (They give you a list of what you shouldn't eat) But i usually still eat most of the things on the list and nothing's happened yet.

Braces for 1 year

No wayy...

You know how the kid with glasses that gets called 4 eyes can take his glasses off
buy with braces you can't

You can't eat anything nice

and I heard that it hurts really REALLY bad for the first whole week
and every time they are tightened

Just don' get too exited, you might be setting yourself up for disappointment

My friends who have braces

well i have braces, and one thing for sure my dear it does hurt the first 2 weeks they are on your teeth, you can't eat well and cant talk that much.BUT after 2wks onward, it will be fine. don't worry, it does not hurt that much, based on my experience. Good Luck! :)

Don't get excited because they'll get annoying later. You won't gag unless they stick something down your throat which they won't, and colored elastics should be cheaper than clear, but go ahead and ask them. And they shouldn't mold your teeth unless your getting Invisalign or retainers.

Cute :) Haha.

It's a good thing you are excited! Being excited about braces and the results makes the process easier.
The reason you can't get the elastics is probably because you are getting a different kind of bracket for your braces. Talk to your orthodontist about your options to see if there is any way you can add the elastics.

1. Spacers will cause discomfort, but they will not be painful. If they bother you, take some Advil or put some numbing cream where the spacers are to relieve it.

2. Oh its not that bad. You are more focused of the primer they put on your teeth (because you are trying to avoid swallowing it because it tastes icky!) and the actual braces.

3. I gag no matter what because I have a VERY small mouth and fear of choking. But just focus on something else. It helps me to pinch my leg or arm to think about something else. And remember to breathe! If you hold your breath you are more likely to choke. It's only in your mouth for 30ish seconds so don't worry!

4. Advil helped me a ton! I took 2 every 4ish hours. But the soreness is only there for a few days. The only other time you have soreness is when they tighten your braces, but you get so use to it that it only hurts for maybe a day. And remember to to take pain medication (whatever it is you choose, advil, Tylenol, etc.) take it 30 minutes before your appointment for braces to prevent any pain coming up!

5. Tips from me are to eat solid food early. Most people will tell you to stay on a soft liquid diet for a few days when you get braces, but the longer you put off eating solid foods, the longer it will take to adjust. I ate a lot of cheetos to speed up the process of adjustment. Another tip is to continue brushing your teeth properly! Brush your teeth 2-3 times a day, and floss with the threader floss so that way there are not complications after your braces come off.

6. Honestly, yes, I do like my braces. They are nothing to be embarrassed about since nearly everyone has some, plus just the thought of how beautiful your teeth will be after the journey is so wonderful! And the time really does fly by. I have to have mine on for 2 and a half years and six months have already flown by, it's insane!

7. Pros - You will have gorgeous teeth!
Cons - There aren't any real con's in my opinion, just little annoying things. Like if a bracket comes off, or when they tighten your braces and your mouth is sore for a little while. But it's all completely worth it!

One more thing... you may wake up with small sores in your mouth from braces. The orthodontist will give you some wax, so just take a small amount of wax and put it on your braces in the spot that is rubbing and irritating your mouth as soon as possible. If you don't the sore will get worse, and it will be a bit painful to eat and talk. But the wax will clear if up in a few hours, and it has no taste, and you can still eat and drink with it!

Good luck with everything!

I have braces:)

1.yes, spacers hurt
2.It isn't too bad but bring some chap stick, after an hour of it in your mouth Ur lips get Really dry.
3.they don't really fill your mouth to the top with the mold so you don't gag.
4.I have tried A LOT of different pain relievers to relive my pain. unfortunately, i don't think any of them work.
5.i would take it easy for the first week. but tons of yogurt, applesauce and ice cream (any food that is soft)
6.Most of the time i like mine. i'm sure ill be happy with the results so i cant complain.
7.Pros: you have perfect teeth at the end. Cons: after the first day of adjustments every month, your teeth have an annoying dull consistent pain.

Over all they are a good choice. a few time they will hurt but the end result will make you happy

They didn't put the colors on me at first either. There are times you need them and times you don't. Your teeth need time to get used to the braces. Dental wax may help, but be careful its best to hold out and let your moth get used to them quicker. No they don't cost more. Take good care of your braces so your parents don't have to end up spending more. And when you are done wear the retainer! I know its a pain but if you don't your teeth will move back.

They will hurt when they are tightened but you get used to it over time and its not so bad after each time.

They did mold my teeth before i got braces to see what needed to be done

1.Yes

2. Not major just annoying

3. I never did and I have a strong gag reflex

4. Advil, Tylenol or the like

5. Your mouth will hurt a lot for about a week. Stick to soft easy to swallow foods, your ability to chew will go away for a while. Do not eat hard or sticky foods with braces. Such as nuts whole apples, hard candies, taffy, pretzels, hard carrots and so on. They will brake the brackets. Everything will get stuck. Get the special floss for braces. I suggest a water pick, that thing saved me a of of trouble. It sprays water out at a fast speed and removes the gunk from between your teeth. Brush you teeth after each meal. Take good care of them, you do not want cavities with braces(or at all)

6. No but I needed them

7. Braces are a pain and limit some foods(or eradicate them) but its worth it in the end

had braces for 6 years as an adult. much better to get them young
