do you need a root canal if a cavity hurts?!
Question: Do you need a root canal if a cavity hurts?
its on the back of my front tooth, the one next to my pointy tooth
it really only hurts sometimes if im eating or drinking something sweet and it touches it
my gum isnt swollen or anything, and my tooth is still white besides my cavity
ive read that if it hurts then that means it already got to the nerve and you need a root canal, but is it okay if it only hurts when i have something sugary?..cause arent all cavities a little sensitive
my mom is calling the dentist tomorrow, i think this is the first time i actually want to go LOL

It could be any of these things :
Sensitivity (filling)
Exposed Nerve (filling)
Abscess (need root canal and Crown)
Infection (need root canal and crown)
There are different stages of cavities.
One of them involves sensitivity to sweet and it means your tooth is infected to the nerves and will most probably need an RCT.
If you want to keep your tooth then better go to the dentist for advise. but if it's not that serious you shouldn't have root canal as yet.
