Question: Help?! I am scared of the dentist!!?
Kayy, I have a dentist appt. at 4:30 today, its 10:43 right now, & I'm realllyyy scared .! Theres a tiny hole my mom said in my top left molar in my root canal filling. It hurts really bad. Also, the roof of my mouthh hurts by that spot and continues towards the top, what could that be? I thought yrr tooth that had a root canal couldnt hurt again. And a few years ago I had a HORRIBLE experience with my first root canal, it hurt like hell !!!!!! then i had to do another one becuz my roots werent fully grown in at the time of the firsst one, and this one i went to a root canal specialist and it was wonderful. But I have a morbid fear of dentists. Im scared of the needle!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I CANNOT get laughing gas or nitrous oxide, my moms making me just get the needle. Also, i hate the dentist im going to. I cant switch though): When i get a filling at this dentist he didnt numb it enough, andd it hurt horribly. I have a veryyyyy low pain tolerance ! When he gives me the needle he does it one time, then he says okay this is gonna hurt more than he does the needle again and it HURTSSSSSSS . ughh. im freaking terrified. also, I havent been taking very good care of my teeth so i prolly have like 26 cavities :\ also, i prolly have gingivitis, so will it hurt more if i have that when he does the needle? Oh & i cant bring an ipod; i dont have one): Im deathly scared of the needle!!! will it hurt rly bad when they do a fillling on my former root canal tooth. It doesnt hurt when i eat on that tooth; but it hurts my gums and the roof of my mouth by it. pleasee help. sorry this is so long . Oh, and ive had about 6 fillings):

Don't be scared of the dentist! My Dad is one :L They're there to make your teeth better, if you dont go it'll only get worse. Oh, and look after your teeth a little better... 6 fillings isn't too good.. I haven't had any. That way, you won't have to face the dentist XD

dont worry everything is going to be alright i am 13 and i have a dentist apt. today to at 3:30 i used to scream and cry up until i was 11 but now i just go and dont make a fuss and then you dont have to go for another 6 months! just think happy thought

The tooth with the root canal has no feeling - the nerve was removed. The needle does not hurt so bad, it's only a pinching feeling. Really it's sore afterwards but not that painful, just inconvenient with the numb feeling.

The good news? The more dental work you have, the more you get used to it.

With your fears it may be best that you ask for some simple sedation, valium or halcion. You cannot drive while on this medication, so it is best that you have a ride. Teeth fear is a challenging phobia that cannot always be explained. If you want to have a good experience seeing the dentist, you should try to spend more time brushing and flossing your teeth so that when you see the dentist, you won't have to return for fillings. Flossing only hurts and bleeds in the beginning. Once it is a routine, it won't hurt as much.

You should cut back on all acidic beverages and be careful how often you are eating carbohydrates, candy, chips, etc. You are going down a pathway of extractions and dentures unless you shape up.

Your mouth is so important to your everyday life, eat, talk, kiss, smile. Research is showing that if you have an unhealthy mouth you are looking at a higher risk for heart disease, diabetes, and periodontal disease. All bad things.

If you are fearful of your dentist, ask your parents to see someone else.
