Extracted tooth - gum won't stop bleeding..Help!!?!

Question: Extracted tooth - gum won't stop bleeding..Help!!?
Hi all

I have had a tooth extracted bout 4 hours ago... (2nd tooth from the back, top)..They had trouble getting the roots out but they got there in the end!! Anyway I can't seem to stop it bleeding...it's not major bleeding just enough to make me worry that it hasn't clotted yet...I bit down on the gauze for 30mins like they said and then kept on putting gauze in...It doesn't seem to be stopping. But I can't even see far enough into my mouth to see if it has clotted..

The doc gave me antibiotics to take too :S

What the hell do I do??!

Help!

Thanks

Hello...OK, bleeding for four hours after an extraction is not a big deal unless the bleeding is super heavy.Did the Dr give you several little squares of gauze to place over the extraction site and bite down on ? If not they should have. If you have some in a First Aid Kit...take some out, fold it over to where it's about 1/4 inch thick, dampen it with salt water, place it over the extraction site and bite down enough to apply pressure...Hold it in your mouth for at least 30 minutes,,,,if it's still bleeding after that time period repeat the procedure. If the bleeding hasn't stopped by tomorrow, call the dentists office. Good luck and I wish you well.

Keep pressure on it for a while. If they had to dig for the roots chances are they had to disturb your gum. Take the antibiotics as guided, and keep the pressure on for a while. If it hasn't stopped in a few hours go back to your dentist or GP just to check all is ok. You'll be ok i'm sure. Don't worry :)

ok calm down relax deep slow breaths dont panic about it you need to see the dentist or periodontist it probably mean your stituches broke if you have sitches keep putting pressure on it if it doenst stop bleeding go straight to dentist to see whats wrong good luck and hope it stops bleeding

Its probably fine and you are just panicking. However if you are worried phone the practice. There should be a number on the answer phone for an emerg dentist. They could pack and stitch the socket.

Hi, well in your case I would continue my antibiotics and would do some mouth rinsing with pretty strong salt water. It helps a lot .
