I have a dental question but don't want anyone judging. I have a cavity I n!

Question: I have a dental question but don't want anyone judging. I have a cavity I need fixed but local anesthetics..?
Don't work on me I have to be put under. I went under many many operations as a child and they just don't work anymore. Trust me lidocaine, epiderals, none work. So I have a cavity that I've had for years because of this issue. I have state dental and they won't cover being put under for dental procedures. Fine and dandy but I can't afford it either. It has gotten very bad and is abscessing. Are they're low cost clinics I could make monthly payments to that put you to sleep? I haven't found any. I live in WA if it helps. If not are their any regular offices that will let you do payments? I really need to get this tooth fixed.

Answers:

If that's how you feel, you should call the dental office locally and ask them. There is a procedure of numbing that directly numbs the tooth itself and not your whole mouth, maybe that will work, worth a try, a lot of dentists don't like to do that because it hurts the doctor's hand, good ones do though, keep asking...

You won't find a place that will sedate you if you are on Medicaid. It costs a lot of money to do it and the provider expects to be paid for his services. Medicaid won't pay them.

As far as you not getting numb with locals, why don't you find someone who uses articaine? I find that I achieve more profound anesthesia with it than I do with lidocaine. You can also find someone who will prescribe halcion and nitrous for you.

I am a dentist

What you need to do during regular business hours is call The (ADA) American Dental Association or the Washington Dental Society and they will give you your best options. They will also give you oral specialist in your area because they maintain a registry. I was married to a dentist.
