I have a question about my retainers?!

Question: I have a question about my retainers?
I got my retainers last Sunday and I am still not used to it. When I talk, there's always that "sshh" sound. For example: seashore >> shishore. It's very annoying. How do I fix this problem?

And how do you clean the retainers? I brush them too when I brush my teeth but I feel conscious about it. I feel like my breath stinks. What should I do?

start reading out a book.the more you say the words, quicker the tongue adapts to the new retainer.
every day 10 min of reading in morning and evening are good enough.
just wash with running water and a old brush.you can use a little mouthwash too in case you feel bad breath.
do wash the retainer after every meal.

So you've had your retainers for what, 2 days?
It's alright! They get better eventually. For me at first, I had rather severe lisp like what you have. Eventually, it goes away once your teeth get into proper position. You can't really fix the issue, so you just have to wait it out... If you really need to talk (i.e. school or something) you can just take them off beforehand and put them on later.
Cleaning the retainers is more problematic... They seem to grow some kind of white stuff, which is really nasty and it smells pretty bad too. I would suggest just soaking it in mouthwash for a bit... I know it sounds ridiculous but it works well.
I just brush them excessively. And don't worry about your breath stinking... If you brush your retainers thoroughly, your breath won't smell as a result of the retainers.

like the other guy said, try reading a book. but in two days, you would be superman to get used to them. when i had them it took me about 5 days to get so used to them that i didn't notice them. then a few months later, my ortho said to just wear it at night. after a few days, i needed to get used to them again.
