Answers:

Hello
yes not brushing and eating sweets will cause tooth decay from a young age. But do not worry about the past now. Just brush your teeth 2 times a day from now on and floss once a day and your teeth will be ok. I had many fillings as a young child due to bad dental hygiene but have looked after my teeth very well as an adult and the only things I have had done as an adult were things that happened as a child. Fillings replaced etc. Get the present decay sorted and visit your dentist every 6 months and your teeth will be fine,

Hope that helps

myself as I have had loads of dental work done

I have two sons one who is 15 the other is almost 13 the 15 year old has one very small filling in one tooth and the other child has no fillings at all their teeth are as near as perfect without having a brace fitted they eat junk fizzy drinks and eat sweets but they brush twice a day and have electric tooth brushes but their teeth have been brushed every day since they had teeth so ithink they are less prone to tooth decay as there teeth are always brushed.

I must be the odd one. I got more cavities when I did brush my teeth. A couple of times I went to the dentist with 7 cavities. So I quit brushing 6 years ago. Since then I have had only 2 cavities.
