Hello
I have had 2 root canal treatments in the past and had pain afterwards with both of them. Pain is normal as a root canal treatment is quite invasive. Also if you have a bad infection of the tooth and or nerves that can take a few days to clear up. I took Nurofen+ when I had pain as this helps with the inflammation and pain. Avoid chewing on that side where the tooth is and also eat soft ,gentle on the mouth foods such as soups, soft spuds and avoid anything hard and sticky. My root canals took a few days to settle back down.

After having the crowns put on them, after my 3rd visit they were totally pain free after about 3 days. Root canal teeth can be abit sensitive for a while . If you still have pain after about 2-3 weeks after the final appointment, go back to your dentist so they can check the root canal by x ray as sometimes the roots can be missed or not cleaned out properly.

As you only had yours done yesterday, the pain you describe sounds normal and will lesson day by day. One of my teeth that was root canaled had a major infection which took about 3 weeks to stop hurting. I am sure yours will be fine. Take painkillers and eat on other side and stick to soft foods. Once you have had the final treatment on it( either a permanent crown or permanent filling) you can eat and drink as normal. If you already have had all this done, it will just take a few days to calm down again.

Hope that helps

myself as I have had 2 root canals.

ur not supposed to eat food on that side after u get a canal.

Pain
?You may feel some discomfort after the anesthetic has worn off, but you should be able to resume normal activities within a day. Your doctor may prescribe a pain medication or suggest you take an over-the-counter anti-inflammatory drug such as ibuprofen. Your doctor may also prescribe an antibiotic to clear up any remaining infection. The tooth and surrounding gum area could remain sensitive for two to three days.

Chewing Precautions
?In some cases, root canal treatment requires several visits. In that case, the dentist will likely install a temporary cap to protect the tooth. Avoid chewing anything tough or hard on that tooth until after your final visit. Unless your dentist advises further precautions, you then should be able to resume normal eating.
