Hello
I would make sure that your dentist x rayed your teeth to check for deep decay or damage in the roots etc. When I had to have root canals, my dentist first x rayed my teeth and then showed the the x ray and told me what the x ray was showing and what had happened to my teeth. If your dentist has x rayed your teeth and has seen damage or decay on the roots he has to give you a root canal. Go back and ask him about x rays and what damage the tooth has which does not hurt you and why you have to have it canaled. Hopefully he can explain why this tooth needs a root canal and put your mind at ease.

Hope that helps

myself as I have had 2 root canals and crowns and fillings and braces
