Hello
you sound a very caring person asking this question.Very thoughtful of you. Here are a few things that will help your sister recover.

Make sure you buy lots of soft foods. (apple sauce, chicken soup, yogurt, canned peaches, pears, pudding, cottage cheese, etc.) She will not be able to have hard, cold/hot foods for at least 48 hours after surgery.

When she is lying down or sleeping have her head elevated with a couple of pillows. This will help with the swelling as well.

Make sure she follows the aftercare instructions she is given and have a read up yourself so you know what should be and what not should be done.

Make sure she has some water, pain killers, and antibiotics (if prescribed any) near her. She will want them near by.

A bag of frozen peas in a tea towel is a good way to numb the cheek where the pain is for 10 minutes at a time. Better than ice as less drips, mess.

Do not let her spit blood out from her mouth as this may effect the socket healing up properly and blood clotting for it to heal. Warm salt water gently rinsed around mouth before bed and after eating can help the healing of the gum, but only after at least 48 hours as you do not want to remove the blood clot in the socket as this helps the socket heal.

Maybe buy your sister some magazines and a good book to look at so she has something to take her mind off the pain and keep her mind busy. Get a few DVDS etc too to watch.

Do not let her smoke or drink alcohol for a few days at least

She will want to get plenty of sleep too so will need a calm quiet room where she can relax and sleep and recover.

Hope it all goes well.

take care

myself

to answer your question watch that episode of victorious where trina has her wisdom teeth pulled. that should show you how. just kidding! just make sure she takes her pain medicine and antibiotics. she will be in pain and the pain medicine will make her sleepy so just let her sleep. no strenuous activity, just rest, as this might dislodge the clot and cause a very painful dry socket. no spitting or smoking. to also help reduce pain, have her hold a cold pack to her cheek for 20 minutes with 10 minutes between each application. this helps reduce swelling and pain. after 24 hours have passed, have her rinse her mouth gently with warm salty water. that helps the gums heal. good luck!

One of my best friends just had hers out. I brought her some ice cream and when i showed up she was just sleeping. So bascially just let her sleep, if she needs something get it for her. shell probably have trouble talking, so get her something to write on. Hope it helps :) Good luck!

I would have soft foods available for her, jello, pudding, applesauce, also 2 ice packs for her cheeks. Be there for her and soon she will be all better :)
