Is it normal for my jaw to hurt after I get my braces off?!


Question: Is it normal for my jaw to hurt after I get my braces off?
I got my braces off a week ago... and my jaw is starting to hurt really badly..... >.< Is it normal to have your jaw hurt like hell after you get your braces off?? It hurts whenever I DONT have my retainer in... and I cant close my mouth all the way or else it hurts.... is this normal??? the pain is off and on... :/

hmm...my jaws never hurt when they took off my braces...but my gum did hurt like hell for the first week, then after that, it's all good :D
