Wire From Braces Poking, Very Painful, Help!?!

Question: Wire From Braces Poking, Very Painful, Help!?
I found a wire from my braces poking my cheek and gums. I can't find the wax. I tried using the earasor from the back of pencil thing but it doesn't work. Its the extra bit of the hook thats between the wire (the hook for me to put the elastics on) . Anyone know what I can do? It's quite long and hurts a lot when I talk and smile. Any advice?

Thanks in advace!

Answers:

I use my fingers to keep bending it back and forth until it breaks.

well my ortho told me that if i notice a wire poking me like you just said to just walk in to the office when its open and tell one of the dental assistant's and they will get things like wire cutters and clip it off and that i didn't have to have an apt, or even call ahead. so just call your office and ask and they will proly tell you the same thing.

This might be terrible advice, but desperate situations call for desperate measures.

Call your dentist and set up an appointment, but in the mean time use small nail scissors to cut the stray wire. Be really careful not to cut yourself!

years of braces...

I remember that, I hated it. We couldn't afford for me to have them, so I eventually ripped them off myself. I don't recommend you do that. : (

Go to your dentist. It happened to me before and there is nothing you can do about it.

Have your dentist adjust it so that it is not protruding.

Go to ur orthodontist before it gets worst
