harmful to swallow a tooth filling?!

Question: Harmful to swallow a tooth filling?
so, i was just brushing my teeth ,and noticed i had a toothache, ive had one all day, didnt think anything of it because ive been drinking liquids all day, and i always have sensitive teeth(not related to this)

and so, i thought id look, and like...half of the top, and one piece on the side, of the top, of my tooth, the metal colored or whatever filling ,is missing? so... im like OHH GODDDD THE PAIN IT HURTS WORSE NOW THAT I KNOW WHAT IT IS!(not really) but so. yeah. is it harmful that i swallowed them? which im pretty sure i did.

not much i can do if it is harmful anyhow,, considering they're gone now.. might aswell buckle up for the ride. im on it now haha. but i was just wondering.

thanks!

and i will be getting in to see a dentist soon, my mom said she'll check for which ones are on our insurance tomorrow... so yeah. lol

thanks again.

Answers:

The metal color filling you swallowed is amalgam filling (silver filling). It will probably comes out the same shape as it gets in. You can try to observe it your self.

In case it didn't come out and lodge in somewhere in your system, just try to remember this incident if it shows up later in your life during some other routine x-ray so you can identify the weird object in the x-ray.
