How long do you have to wait before you eat after a temporary filling?!

Question: How long do you have to wait before you eat after a temporary filling?
Answers:

Depends, some are like a putty and you have to wait anywhere between 1-6 hours and some are light set so you can eat straight away.
Just call the surgery and double check te dentist or his nurse can tell you.

Im a dentist

Hello
you normally can eat again once the numbness has worn off from the injection(3-4 hours). But as the filling is only a temp, I would avoid eating on that side of the mouth altogether as it may come loose. Avoid eating hard and sticky foods too. Eat soft foods and soups and avoid toffees like the plague. I had a temp crown put on and had to wait 3 weeks to have perm crown fitted and I was told to eat on other side of mouth until then. I had no problems doing so. So if you only have a week or two until perm crown or filling is fitted, just chew on other side.

Hope that helps

Depends on the filling. I'd give it about three hours; then again, my dentist actually tells me how long to wait before i can eat...

Usually 3-4 hours but no hot drinks until later tonight.

My dentist tells me I can eat after an hour. He never said I couldn't drink hot drinks and I always have.

3/4 hour

A few hours
