Before a root canal, would a dentist do this?!

Question: Before a root canal, would a dentist do this?
Put in a temporary filling and tell you to come back in a months time (There is no absess and no antibiotics were prescribed.)

Answers:

yup mine did the same with me,
there is no need for a root canal if there is no abcess. root canal is the removal of a highly infected tooth root.

Absolutely, well I am not sure about why the month is important other than it fits the dentist's schedule. You never mentioned if you were having any pain from the tooth? All I can assume is that the decay is so deep that the dentist has questions about the health of the nerve, and has recommended the tooth be root canalled.
Dr. Albert's refferal to the article is a little ridiculous. The article basically contends that dentists are quick to root canal teeth, when perhaps a gum infection is what the true problem is. Now don't get me wrong, misdiagnosis happens all the time. But really, if you can't discern an odontogenic abscess from a gingival abscess, then you have some problems. Sure, make sure in your own mind that the treatment recommended is needed, but don't let the article's fear mongering make you think that dentists are shady.
Once decay penetrates into the dentin, it starts to have a negative effect on the nerve. If the decay is close to the nerve on the X-ray, the dentist knows that he/she must remove enough affected dentin as well as infected dentin, and will likely encroach on the nerve. It is better to go ahead and root canal the tooth, then try not to get too close to the nerve, leave some decay there, and have the nerve die in a few months, and abscess, and put you in a lot of pain.
He/she put the temporary into the hole just to prevent you from packing food into the hole, and having it annoy you. The decay temporary and the decay will all be removed at the time the tooth is root canalled.
If you have any doubts, you need to have a second opinion!

yes in some what they would A dentist gives you a root canal then puts in a temperarly filling then you come back for a crown to get fitted it takes aobut 2 -3 visits in months im not sure about that
