Would a dentist do this?!
Question: Would a dentist do this?
Answers:
I actually just started my root canal procedure yesterday and he drilled out all the tooth pulp and filled it in with a white temporary medicated filling and put me on antibiotics to clear up the infection. I go back in two weeks to finish it. Did he not give any instructions or talk to you about it? You definately shouldnt feel nervous to ask about your teeth... and if he didnt offer any info about what he was doing I would change dentists! My dentist talked me through everything he did to me and what to expect and aftercare insructions as well.
He might have discovered that it didnt go deep enough for a root canal or this may be a temporary filling to make sure you are not in pain. Did he ask you to make another appointment? If not then likely you didnt need one. Or maybe it WAS a root canal filling and you just didnt know it, its not unheard of to have a white root canal, especially if it is a tooth that is visable when you smile or speak. They arent that different to have done than a regular filling, they just require a little more novocaine. I've had one myself.
If the doctor gave you another appointment, then the root canal is being done in 2 stages. If not, then you do not need a root canal.
He may just be leaving it to see if you have any more problems with it - if he was going to do it he would have done it today I think
Dunno young man. He may have left it to drain if there was any puss or gunk to come out. Give him a call in the morning. Ta ta.
