for people who have clear filings in their teeth, how long has the clear filings!

Question: For people who have clear filings in their teeth, how long has the clear filings last?
i have 14 and getting 2 more but i was wondering should i get 2 silver instead please help

Answers:

They are not clear they are white tooth coloured. The white fillings are called composites and they last about ten years.
White fillings:Pros: aesthetics Cons: expensive, contain BPA and don't last long, hard to fill properly and may have microleakage causing more cavities.
The silver fillings are called dental amalgam they last much longer and are easier to fill the cavity prep. Lasting about 15 years or more. Pros: last long time, shape well, less chance for microleakage, have been used for many years with great success, cheaper Cons: doesn't look as nice.
The metal fillings are the only material that has been put in the human body and lasted for more than 50 years, it is still the longest lasting material put in the human body.
The metal fillings last longer than the white fillings.
I have one composite filling that I got when I was 15.

Clear fillings? Do you mean seals? Because seals and fillings are different. They have different kinds of fillings, one is the metal and the other is this plastic one that is the color of the tooth which is the ones i have. I've had seals too. They last for a long time but do eventually leave. I would personally get the sealants (or the other fillings) than the metal. The metal ones come out when you're chewing gum, eating taffy, or any other sticky candy or what not. Not that you should be eating them anyways while you've just gotten fillings, they aren't very stable.

Personal experience.

Hello, I'm assuming that what you call "Clear" filings are actually what is called tooth colored "Composite" filings. The reality is that they can last as long as any filing. Hoe long your filings last will have a great deal to do with how well you practice good dental hygiene and eat a good diet...and I would be amiss if I didn't add that so called recreational use of drugs will eventually destroy a persons teeth and gums. Good luck and I wish you well.

ok well i have had clear fillings all my life but it depends on your oral hygiene and if you take care of you teeth and dont medical issues or problems white compostie fillings are really nice i mean there they make your teeth whtie and pretty but its nout its about how the filling material and it also depends on what your dentist suggests or reccomends for your teeth i hope that helps but its up too you your choice you can try a composite one good luck

Composite resin fillings last 20 to 25 years.

There's no need to worry about being perfect anymore. It turns out that no one is at www.perfectlynot.com
