We had a bad dentist?!

Some years back we got this horrible dentist. He gave me extra fillings I didn't need, they'd fall out, my front tooth got chipped at the top and he filled it too dark, they wanted to give me un-needed root canals, etc. My mom's teeth, her bridge fell out. They re-glued the broken bridge in permanently (It was supposed to be only until they could fix the entire thing and give her a new one.), they had to for 5hrs drill, scrape, break the pieces out (She was in agony.), then they put the new bridge in and it doesn't even match her natural tooth color... She cries a lot about it. They said they took out my wisdom teeth during this surgery, now I'm seeing them poke through my gums.

We have no idea what to do. The first original dentist that messed up our teeth ran and left, we have no idea where he went. We were just told "he quit". But now we've got permanently messed up teeth, me and mom are in pain constantly, and we paid so much money that wasn't needed to be paid for these things!

I can hardly eat now without being in pain because of all my bad fillings and my mom's bridge is weak. Could we sue them or something? I think at least for the surgery. They said they were going to take out all 4 of my wisdom teeth. Now 2 on the bottom are poking through. Couldn't we sue them for making us pay for a surgery they didn't do?
