Just wondering why she told me this?!

Question: Just wondering why she told me this?
The last few times I have gone to the dentist, the dental hygienist told me to use antiseptic mouthwash at night along with my brushing and flossing and just brushing and flossing in the morning. Why wouldn't she have me use mouthwash in the morning too, is it just not needed?

Answers:

Using mouthwash at night helps protect your mouth while you sleep so your mouth isn't as susceptible to as many germs.

As women, we tend to have lots more dental problems. Gums and all. Hormones mess with mouth issues. Gingivitis is one major thing. And killing germs is to help prevent gingivitis and/or improve it before it leads to periodontitis.(spelling not sure of)

I was looking at a professional's dental exam one time last summer. Wish I could find that again.

Try not to have any dental work done around the time of your menstual period due to the lower estrogen. I had my teeth just cleaned and the gums were shaken up much more than usual! And a tooth being pulled can lead to more bleeding during that time also.

Isn't it wonderful we women have more things our hormones contribute to? lol
Still glad to be a woman, though :)

Probably because you're not flossing. Watch what she tells you when you brush and floss twice a day.
