Has anyone smoked while having their wisdom teeth out?!

Question: Has anyone smoked while having their wisdom teeth out?
I had my wisdom teeth pulled about 10 hours ago. I am dying for a cigarette. I wasn't planning on sucking on the cigarette itself, I was going to put it close to my mouth and inhale. Any tips? Have you ever smoked when you had your wisdom teeth out?

p.s. I know about dry sockets.

Answers:

I had mine taken out on Tuesday, I smoked a few hours after VERY CAREFULLY. Just take light , small puffs. make sure you rinse with salt water afte to get the chemicals out of your mouth. Thats what I did and i havent had a problem. Just be careful not to suck your clot out. I dont know how you smoke, but I dont "suck" when I do...I dont know how to explain it really. but like I said, I did it that way and Im just fine...started eating semi-solids today and used a straw :)

personal experiance

I had my wisdom teeth surgically removed and smoked when I got out of the office. I nearly died with a dry socket. I had smoked after getting teeth pulled before and never had trouble but that one time broke me forever. I will never smoke right after dental work again! You can use nicotine patches to get you over the hump. That's what I did last week when I had my top teeth pulled and got dentures. It worked fine for me and I smoke over a pack a day.

OK..if you know about Dry Sockets you know not to smoke..Also you should know that not only can the Hot Smoke cause swelling your going to expose an "open" wound directly to possible cancer causing substances...Do the partially smart thing and at least wait 36 hours to light up. Good luck and I wish you well.

My advice: Stop smoking while you still can.
