Has anyone ever had TMJ cause Tinnitus?!

Question: Has anyone ever had TMJ cause Tinnitus?
In just one ear, or at all? If so how long did it last and when did it go away? What helps it go away?

Answers:

Tinnitus is one of the known symptoms caused by TMJ but tinnitus is also caused by a multitude of medical conditions and drugs. In my experience, when a TMJ patient presents with tinnitus, it is very difficult to make it go away. TMJ and ear problems are related due to pressure exerted by the head of the condyle against the ear and the nerves that are found in the area as the jaw is posteriorly displaced.

functional orthodontist; treated TMJ since 1984

Well are you having any problems in your TMJ?
Sometimes there is a clicking sound in the joint but it is obviously not the ringing in your ears.
Tinnitus is usually not a grave a problem and is a symptom of an underlying issue. But it sure can have a deeper problem like brain aneurysms.. You should go to doctor and get it checked if it persists.

I have TMJ on one side of my jaw (or at least, I only really hear the popping on one side) and I often get a ringing or buzzing sound in both of my ears. It seems to come on randomly for random periods of time - there doesn't seem to be a pattern at all. The problem is ongoing and I haven't been able to find anything that will make it go away.

unlikely. TMJ is a problem with your jaw joint. Tinnitus is ringing in your ears which there is no known cause as yet.
