Im scared of having braces?!

Question: Im scared of having braces?
My dentist said i need braces for an extra tooth i don't understand why i need it for that and im scared i will be bullied if i had them is there any way i don't have to have braces???? or any support and also i haven't been to my orthodontist yet so is there anyway my dentist could be wrong?

Answers:

You will not be the only one with the braces or you can inquire about the clear type of braces; I think they are called "invisiline" (not to sure about the spelling). The best thing about it is to think about who will have the last laugh, you or your bullies with their Gremlins smile.

don't be scared of getting braces i got mine in december, yes they can be a bit painful when you first
get them and when you get them tightened.

they are really worth it at leastst for me so far).

i wouldn't worry if i were you, and any way the orthodontist may just give you a retainer which is barely visible compared to train-tracks

i doubt you will get bullied, and if you do just remember that you are getting them for a positive thing (correcting your dental alignmentt) and that the people who bully may be slightly jealous about how you get your teeth straightened when they may not be able to afford it or get it on NHS.

The dentist is not wrong, some have different views on what braces you need but they wouldn't be wrong.
There is nothing to worry about.
About 3/4 years ago i had them i had a retainer and then i had blocks! I could speak properly for a bit but then i spoke fine and nobody cared.
Then i just got them this year. I got train tracks on the bottom and a retainer on the top.
I got bullied in year 7,8and 9 for my teeth and then i got the braces and when i first got them for the first week people were like, lispy, but they were two of my mates just mucking around and all you have to do is laugh along with them, join in,or just ignore them, it shows them you don't care and you are fine about the situation. You should not say/do.
Shut up, I will tell of you if you don't stop, get worked up and getting angry.
This is the fuel to make the bully carry on.
Otherwise good luck with your braces, and trust me don't worry about the journey, look forward to the outcome! :D

I have braces right now... I had to have these removable ones first and they were hell for a while but once i'd had them a few months i preferred wearing them to not because it was more comfortable, which shows they worked. i have train tracks now. believe me the first three days was living hell, i threatened to rip them out, i threatened to deliberately stop caring for my teeth (because if you don't care for them, they discontinue the treatment) but once i got used to them, i don't even notice them any more, and nobody teases me. the only comments people have made are things like 'i like the colours', 'you suit them, actually', 'theyre really nice' and most happily for me, the day after i got them 'i think your teeth look nicer already'.

it will be worth it in the end because you'll have nice teeth.
even if you get teased, wouldn't you rather be teased for braces, rather than when you're older having wonky teeth.

hey don't worry about braces!! i was nervous to when i was going to have them- I've had them in since around Christmas this year, so not that long :) people wont bully you or anything, plus you'll have perfect straight teeth at the end of it all.
And No, if your dentist says you need braces theres probably no getting out of it..sorry- Oh yeah and i'm not going to lie and tell you that its pain free, cause its not- well for a couple of days anyways- i hope this helped :)
P.S- people seriously don't even notice you have them in..lol

I had braces two times. In 3rd grade through 5th and 7th - 9th. I was never made fun of for having them, lots of other kids do too. There most likely isn't a change that your dentist is wrong. He studied teeth after all. I had to have 6 teeth pulled and have gaps made for incoming teeth, it's a little uncomfortable but nothing too bad and you'll have super pretty teeth afterwards [:

hope I helped xx

When i first was told i was getting braces i was so scared. But its not that bad you get used to it in about two weeks. Nobody will make fun of you because a lot of people have braces now. And trust me its worth the pain!!! :D

Mee!

if you do get them, good luck, they hurt like a b*t*h. just kiddinn' :D

they dont hurt. they can be sore, but you get used to it. :P and i think braces are awesome :D

Ive had them for 3 years and no one has said anything. #you should get them the results are definetly worth it, i get mines off on friday :)

Don't be!!! It will be worth it because when you are done your treatment you have straight, perfect, pearly whites!! Smile! :D

Had braces

sooo many people have braces these days! im sure you'll be fine:) and if someone makes fun of you just say "Atleast i'll have straight teeth"
