dental abscess problem?!

Question: Dental abscess problem?
i have had a dental abscess drained/lanced two days ago, i was put on antibiotics (five day course) the pain and swelling has not reduced, is this due to inflamation? i dont think it has filled up again, as i keep pressing it with my tongue and nothing seems to be coming out...is this normal
btw the abscess is on the roof of my mouth on the right hand side, so as you can imagine its VERY annoying :(

If you do not feel that the antibiotics have helped to reduce the symptoms after three or four days then you can go back and discuss it with your dentist. Antibiotics take about thirty six hours before any result is seen. But sometimes there is a need to piggy back another one in as well.

As the infection resolves you will not see anything come out and it absorbs within the root canal and this is why you have to complete the treatment and have a root canal treatment to completely get rid of all the remains of the infection.

The antibiotics are used to fight the infection that is putting pressure on your gums. You should talk to an Periontist to have your mouth evaluated for treatment. Advil helps with dental pain the best because it reduces swelling that can be causing your gum pain. The warn salt water rise is also very helpful! Good luck! I hope your mouth feels better!
