Can you use anbesol liquid for pain after wisdom teeth extract?!

Question: Can you use anbesol liquid for pain after wisdom teeth extract?
I am on my third day since I had my wisdom teeth removed. All but one tooth feels completely fine. Today has been the most pain for this one tooth. I have taken the oxycodone and motrin, still having pain. I was wondering if I could use anbesol liquid on my gum? I used it before I had my wisdom teeth extracted.

Answers:

No. Anbesol has 20% benzocaine. It only anesthetizes the soft tissue to a depth of about 1 mm max. It will not help with tooth pain. You likely have a dry socket if the one hurts a lot. Usually the pain from a dry socket manifests around 3 days after the extraction. It's a dull throb that just won't go away even if you take pain meds.
Go back to your dentist or surgeon and have him evaluate it
