Can a tween get TMJ due to severe overbite?!

Question: Can a tween get TMJ due to severe overbite?
And if so what would treatment be.

Answers:

I actually found out I had TMJ when I was about 11 or 12, and part of the reason was my overbite. There are many things they can try to do to fix it. I would suggest going to an orthodontist as soon as you can. They can try and fit you with a splint to wear at night almost like a mouthguard. Or if its really serious you might need surgery. I myself had to have 2 jaw surgeries to fix the problem of my overbite and small upper palate. Hope this helps :)
