is it true that a year after ur braces are gone..ur teeth would go back to its p!

Question: Is it true that a year after ur braces are gone..ur teeth would go back to its previous position?
i wanted to have braces to make it look nicer bec my two upper front teeth is facing a little on the sides..but my friend who had braces for about 6 years said that she's not removing her braces ever bec once she does..her teeth would go back to its previous position..is it really true?..if it is..then the purpose of braces would be totally useless..i dont want to wear braces all my life!

Ok..Once the braces have moved the teeth to the desired position and the braces removed, you will be fitted with what is called a removable retainer...The retainer is made of plastic and it's job is to keep the teeth in the position they were moved to. Once the braces come off the Retainer is worn on a 24/7 basis for the first 3 to 4 months to allow the gum bone to stabilize around the teeth..You will of course take the retainer out to clean it at least twice a day.....Once the bone has stabilized you will then wear the retainer for at least 8 to 10 continuous hours out of ever 24 and that is from now on...A retainer is a "forever" dental appliance...If you leave the Retainer out for an extended period of time the teeth will indeed begin to move back to where they started from. Good luck and I wish you well.

Once your braces have been removed, it is not possible for them to return to their original position. For a few months after the fixed brace has been taken off, you will wear a retainer, which will prevent your teeth from moving.
But, I'll tell you what IS possible... for you to get some spelling and grammar lessons.

Well for some people yes, I have a few cousins like that. But I have cousins and friends who's teeth haven't moved.
Having a retainer afterwards will help. I have braces and I will have a follow up retainer for 2 years to assure they won't move.

they will be improved. if you have a fixed brace then you need to wear a removable one for a year later to prevent your teeth returning. if you do that then you will be ok.
