Cracking jaw noise when I move lower teeth/jaw?!

Question: Cracking jaw noise when I move lower teeth/jaw?
So whenever I rotate my lower teeth around, the left side of my jaw like cracks and it feels loose and like if I released it from something. It doesn't hurt at all, but I am just worried because I am not sure if it could be a sign of something serious in the future. Any information? Thanks

Hi Alfred, I had something similar myself a while back, cracking then sort of out of line or something, Anyway, I went to a doctor who told us that the muscles were letting the jawbone slip and was letting my jaw drop. That is not the phraseology he used but what I remember about it. Also when I yawned, my jaw sort of got stuck then clicked to close. I was very upset about it. I got shots on both sides of my jaws, I remember it was a little painful, but it took care of the problem and that happened years ago. I have had nothing since. I think my parents took me to a chiropractor and not an M. D but again, I am uncertain about that.
Just get it checked out for our peace of mind. Health problems are like dominoes, it's all related and one problem can cause others if not taken care of.

As far as I'm aware many people have this problem and it's caused by a simple thing.
Do you chew on one side of your mouth and mostly just that side? And is the opposite side doing the cracking?

I have been told that it's all to do with overworking one side of your mouth/teeth too much and the other side becoming too rigid by not "biting down" on anything. When you are rotating your jaw, it's working the other side and it's cracking from being forced to move.

I was advised that I should eat on the opposite side of my mouth for a while then try to keep it even with chewing foods. I don't think that there are any serious problems if you don't do anything about it, it's just annoying.

If it's really painful it could be something worse, go to a doctor if you're unsure.

What I was told.
I'm not a dentist, or a doctor, I have no experience.

Next time you go to the dentist ask him about it. Some cracking is normal, but hopefully it won't lead to a tmj problem, which can be very painful and hard to manage. Here's some info on tmj. But don't assume that just because you have cracking that you have or will ever have tmj problems.
