when they put them on, it doesn't hurt. when you go in, they will usually give you a stronger wire each time, which can make your teeth a little sore, but usually its not too bad, until you're coming to the end when they start to ache because of how strong the wires are. if you have to get rubber bands, i wont lie, those hurt. they make you teeth itch, and you'll be a bit miserable for the first 3 days. other than that, the only thing that really bugged me were the wires themselves, because they would cut into my lips and tongue. now, i still have a wire behind my bottom teeth. it sucks. when i cough or sneeze, my tongue flips up and catches on it....just make sure that while you have braces, you brush well and FLOSS. other wise your breath will stink :). don't eat hard, or chewy foods like carmel, popcorn, jawbreakers, and taffy. there's only one type of gum you can have...ask after they put the braces on. usually, they'll tell you what type of foods you can eat. when i got my braces, i had a jaw expander too, and it took me a while to get used to it, so i was eating foods like bananas and malt o meal; i hadn't figured out how to chew with the plastic from the jaw espander covering my molers. it took me about a week.

I had braces for 18months, it does not hurt when they are going on or coming off or anything. The train track braces as they are known are fixed on with glue. the only time you may feel slight discomfort is when they tighten the braces every month or two, as part of the process to get your teeth in the right position, its just a little achy for while, no biggy. and with food, chewing gum, can get a bit messy, as you can imagine, but i never really had any trouble with eating with them on, takes a while to get used to buy hey doesnt everything, im sure your dentist/orthodontist, will explain.

IVE HAD THEM

i had braces a few years ago i dont remember them hurting when being put on.
however, they did start hurting once they start adjusting your teeth (maybe start feeling pain the next day)
and the pain will go away maybe the next day.
pain will come back every time your braces get tightened for about a day and then again pain will go away
once your braces are on, your not supposed to chew gum or eat popcorn. the orthodontist will tell you what else not to eat and maybe give you a list :)
hope this helps.
ps the pain is not that bad you might not be able to bite into things for that day but its definetly worth it in the end! good luck!

i had braces

1. No it doesn't but after few hours it will hurt.
2. After few hours it'll start hurting but trust me the pain is worth it. Remember that if it hurts it means your teeth are moving (which is the reason you got them in the first place)
3. Find it on youtube.
4. Gum, hard food such as nuts, almonds, hard candies etc. because you'll brackets will come off.

They are put on an anchored by glue, it only hurts a little.
