teehee! i can tell you that getting your braces on does NOT hurt. they'll feel a little weird at first, but you'll adjust to them. the insides of your cheeks will also need to adjust, as the braces might dig into them for a few days. the point of braces is to straighten your teeth, so teeth are going to move. in terms of pain, it all depends on how "messed up" your teeth are. it isnt that painful, but after awhile, especially during the first few weeks~ you'll feel a raw, soreness. but no worries, it isnt that bad; you just cant eat some of the same foods. When the braces are digging into your cheeks, orthodontists recommend using wax. (they'll give you some) it works for some, but it feels really awkward, :P. be sure to get ice cream and other foods that can be eaten easily, avoid chewing extensively, avoid crunchy food, and really sticky candies. they discourage chewing gum, but it doen't do any damage unless you get it stuck in between your braces, which never happens, really. Take some pain reliever before you go to the orthodontist to get them on, that way, the first signs of pain wont be as strong. the orthodontist should show you how to brush and floss with braces. ALSO, AVOID WHITENING TEETH WHILE YOU HAVE BRACES!!! there will be splotches of the unwhitened area where the brace sat. GOOD LUCK <3

they don't hurt when you first get them on but they do hurt for about a week after. And i wouldn't use the word hurt to describe it, more like sore. I have braces right now and my tips to you is brush your teeth really good and don't eat anything your orthodontist tells you not to. Oh and do everything that they tell you to because if you don't, it'll just take longer to get your braces off.

The process of putting them on definitely doesn't hurt, but like you said, it's a long process! So bring an iPod or something to take your mind off the time:) what happens during this process is they make sure your teeth are completely isolated from saliva as this will cause the process of bonding the individual brackets to fail (they look like little metal squares on each tooth) after all the brackets are placed, the misconception of how orthodontists make your teeth move by "tightening your braces" is completely wrong. It's all about the type of wire they will place into the brackets. You usually start off with a very light NiTi wire that is flimsy and not much force on the teeth. As you progress in your treatment at each visit they will replace your old wire with one with more force. Usually you end treatment with a stainless steel wire. Once you get the wires put in for the first time and each time you get new wires, your teeth will be pretty sore from the new force they aren't used to. I've had quite a few patients though never complain about discomfort so you maybe a lucky one! It only last a few days so don't worry :)

not at all.
getting them off is the *****.
you get some really bad tastes in your mouth but thats the worst,
oh and when they tell you to brush your teeth really brush them good.
try to keep your mouth dry.

oh and about a few days after or the next day is when your going to feel the pain.
you feel your teeth moving and they feel loose dont worry they arent. your lips are probably going to get cut up from the metal too. so use the wax that they give you.

GOOD LUCK.

Nope, they don't hurt getting them on, but they might fit a metal ring on your back teeth; that might hurt. Just a warning. But afterwards, they will hurt, because you're not used to them. At most, you'll get used to them from 4-7 days.

Idk. But I dont think it hurt my sis that bad!!!! BTW!!!! My friend said it hurt so much, its like they are sticking play-doh down u throat! A whole glob of it! Haha! Good luck!!!!!

Payback!

at first but eventually you will get use to it
