Awful pain after flossing?!

Question: Awful pain after flossing?
I had a cleaning last Thursday and the dentist told me that I had a lot of calculus on my teeth. She removed them all and told me to floss carefully or else she would have to give me a deep clean since I have some pretty deep pockets in my back teeth (5-6mm). Before the cleaning I flossed regularly too, but didn't floss correctly at the back since it was really hard to reach. After the cleaning, whenever I floss those back teeth I would experience horrific pain that last for hours and keep me up at nights. I can't chew anything hard and my teeth are very sensitive to cold and spicy food. It has been a week and the pain seems to be escalating.

Is this temporary? Are my gum adapting after the cleaning or should I be worried about infections?

Answers:

it is pretty normal to have some pain after getting your teeth cleaned especially since you ahve 5-6 mm pockets where you should be at 3 or less. rinse with some warm salt water and take some ibuprofen for the discomfort and be sure to brush 2-3 times a day and go in ever 6 months to get your teeth cleaned
