Orthodontic headgear?!

Question: Orthodontic headgear?
I have to wear headgear for 12-14 hours a day. I have been doing great at maintaining at least 12 hours of wearing. I was just wondering how my teeth stay where the headgear left them after 12 hours. Wouldn't they just go back to how they were before head gear once I take the headgear off?

Answers:

No, the entire premise of headgear is to shift your teeth, hold them in position (where it's shifted to), give your jaw/teeth a breather, then keep going. It's a slow process but significantly faster than regular braces without headgear.

I really do give you kudos for wearing it because my ortho gave me the option to wear it and have my braces off in a year, versus have my braces for about 1.5-2 years. In fear of being bullied in school, I went with the no-headgear approach. So I commend you. Keep up the good work!
